Az ethereum egy blokk-lánc alapú hálózat, ami a bitcoint -hoz hasonló “virtuális pénz”
funkciókon kívül egy elosztott előforrású, biztonságos virtuális számítógép funkciókat is
elláthat. Ez a virtuális számítógép a “solidity” nyelven programozható. A blokk-lánc adat
tárolásra is használható; egyrészt a tranzakciokhóz fűzhető kísérő infó segítségével,
másrészt az un. “okos szerződések”- kódja segitségével. Az itt használt virtuális pénz neve
“Ethereum” röviditése “ETH”.
